A Moderate Approach to Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows and develops, orthodontic issues could be developing too. Children should visit the orthodontist for an assessment so that any issues can be identified and monitored.
At North Seattle Orthodontics, we take a conservative approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We'll only intervene when strictly necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being blocked from growing into their positions properly.
Early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can help address many of the common oral problems that children face as they grow up – including speech and eating issues, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and more. The information we gather during monitoring can help guide and inform future orthodontic treatment.
Treating Airway & Breathing Issues in Children
Proper airway health, jaw development, and quality sleep are essential to a child’s growth. At our practice, Dr. Lyons works with myofunctional therapists to provide dedicated care for children who struggle with airway or breathing issues.
